Leave the Hybrids to the Commuters
For most people, it's irresponsible to buy a hybrid.
The couple next door bought a Toyota Prius. They can afford it, and they now pollute less than they did previously. That's not the point.
My neighbors are retired and don't drive very much. The Toyota Prius is on allocation, hard to get. My neighbors paid a premium to get it and made it harder and more expensive for others to get one. Had my neighbors not bought it, some commuter might be driving the Prius, saving more gas and polluting less more.
Don't buy a hybrid unless you drive a lot.
